About us

Our history.
The history of the Brauhaus of Murau Brewery goes back, as a tavern and inn, as far as the fifteenth century. The historic home of Murau Brewery has stood here on Raffaltplatz in Murau since 1495. In 1994 the house was completely renovated and extended – a 4-star hotel with a restaurant was created – the Brauhaus Murau.
When Murau Brewery was looking for new leaseholders for the Brauhaus in Murau, Fritz Wassermann saw the chance to fulfil a long-cherished dream. Having grown up above an inn, Fritz Wassermann links zest for life, cosiness and enjoyment with the hospitality trade. Years of experience as a manager, together with his passion and the long-held dream of running a hotel, make Fritz Wassermann the ambitious operator of the Brauhaus of Murau Brewery. His motto is: ‘Good food and a cosy drink keep body and soul together.’
The Wassermann family.
Since the beginning of 2019, the ‘Brauhaus zu Murau’ has been run by Fritz Wassermann with great passion. He is supported by his family. This includes his partner Waltraud Dullnigg, who, alongside her main job, devotes every free minute with joy to the Brauhaus zu Murau. Fritz Wassermann’s daughter, Carmen Dröscher, actively supports him as assistant to the management. His daughter Sandra Bacher and his sons-in-law Armin and Gerald repeatedly help out at the Brauhaus zu Murau alongside their various main occupations. Fritz Wassermann’s grandchildren, Emelie, Valerie and Jonas, are also enthusiastic Brauhaus fans and enjoy the cosy atmosphere of the Brauhaus.
